The Woody Allen School of Sales

You may have heard the famous quote by Woody Allen: “80 percent of success is just showing up”. But what does it really mean and how can you apply it to your sales? 😮

Here are some insights that I learned from a candidate who interviewed for a sales job when I asked him what makes him successful in sales:

  • Showing up means starting. The hardest part of most jobs is taking the first step, especially when it involves getting out of your comfort zone. The candidate told me that he went to Woody Allen’s school of sales (😊) and learned that it was not just about the hard work, but about the courage to act. Wow, that’s impressive!

  • He continued and said that as much as showing up is important, it is not enough. You also need to follow up. If 80% of success is showing up, then the rest 20% is following up. And this is hard work. Following up means staying in touch with your prospects, clients, and colleagues, providing value, feedback, and improvement. It also means closing the deal and delivering on your promises.

So, what are you waiting for? Show up, follow up, and crush your sales! Good #selling! 🙌
