Time vs. Timing: How to Align Your Sales Goals with the Calendar

This week was a short one for many of us in North America – last Monday was Labor Day.

A clear sign that fall is here (even though many of us do not see a relief from the summer heat). 🍂

And when we go to check the calendar, we see that there are only 4 months until the end of the year. This is less than 120 days and even less business days. 😱

This is the right timing to check how we are doing viz a viz our personal and business goals for 2023. Do we want to adjust the goals if we can do that? Do we want to adjust our plans/actions? How do we remove the distractions so that we can meet our goals?

Especially in sales, we need to synchronize ourselves with the business calendar. Make sure that we are aware that it’s the time to think about timing our activities with the calendar.

I know this from my own business experience. I have seen many sellers struggle with reaching their annual sales quota because they did not plan ahead or adapt to changing circumstances. According to a recent report, only 20% of sellers are making quota this year because of the challenging market conditions.

On the other hand, I have also seen many sellers succeed by aligning their goals with the calendar by making the “big end of the year push”. It is not too early to start it now and not waiting to the last minute.

So, as we finish this week, I am committed to look at the gap between my current place and the goals for the end of year. Becoming aware of this difference will give me the opportunity to correct the course.

How about you? How are you doing vs. your goals? What are you doing about this gap?

Let me know in the comments below or send me a message what are the adjustments that you are making to make 2023 a #salessuccess. 😊
